The vision behind LeAP dates back to 1991, when a group of young Abiriba professionals including Mr. U. K. Eke, Dr. Akpaka Kalu, Dr. Agbai Ina Obasi, and other distinguished individuals visited Professor Anya O. Anya, who encouraged them to build stronger relationships among themselves and create a platform dedicated to the unity and development of Abiriba.

This vision led to the formation of the Abiriba Advancement Group (AAG), which became a driving force for educational, social, and community development initiatives. Although AAG eventually became inactive, it demonstrated the transformative power of collective action. A subsequent initiative, the Abiriba Bankers Association (ABA), also made meaningful contributions before it too became inactive.

Determined to build a broader, more sustainable platform that would bring together professionals across all sectors, a new generation of leaders established what is now known as the League of Abiriba Professionals (LeAP).

LeAP held its inaugural meeting on 2 August 2008 at 9A Thompson Avenue, Ikoyi, Lagos, under the leadership of its convener, Mr. U. K. Eke. Professionals from various fields gathered with a common purpose to harness their collective knowledge, experience, integrity, and professional expertise for the advancement of Abiriba.

Originally proposed as The Abiriba Professionals (TAP) Group, the association later adopted the name League of Abiriba Professionals (LeAP), reflecting its aspiration to be a dynamic community of professionals committed to service and progress.

Following its inauguration, LeAP was formally incorporated by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) on 5 August 2009, providing the institutional framework to pursue its mission and expand its impact.
